the harddrive is formatted for PC not Mac....I don't know what an 
Elements external HD is but if you mean you saved images to the drive 
and don't want to lose them, yes, get another drive [they're 
relatively inexpensive these days = and CompUSA is having the closing 
down sale] and start with that...what is your basic setup??  What OS, 
Machine etc.

if you have Leopard you will want to use TimeMachine and you'll need 
a drive for that [separate from SuperDuper]
