see the podcast linked here already and when Bryan gets his pdf or
whatever of the keynote, I'll share it here or on the iWeb site.
Bryan Baker on GarageBand - 6/26/07
Bryan provided a great program on GarageBand and how it can be used
to create and score music, for podcasts, for recording iChat audio
conferences and as an audio workstation. His presentation is at the
website both in graphic form and as a podcast.
While there are some limits, the demonstration from Bryan showed
there were quite a few fun and helpful things you can do with GB.
There is a guitar tuner in GB as well.
You can even put images in your GB items [podcasts? not sure what other use]
Keynote to
export images
then you can bring into GB - then can click and drag into track
Things to do with GB
can create music with or without a separate instrument
can input using the Mac keyboard
sofrtware instrument versus real instrument
input MIDI files
musical typing
scoring
excellent package to get = "Drums on Demand" can be purchased and
licensed to use to work with your music
Getting to Market:
CDBaby - like Amazon for independent artists, self-publishing
for music [basic setup, barcodes, digital distribution] - $35 for
each album fee [you send them 5 CDs and they sell and handle the
rest, take $4 each one and you price as you wish]
get CDs duplicated [company in Nevada can do 20 or so at a
time, problem getting to get them pressed in small quantities; there
are other companies of course] - need artwork
get Seen and Heard
to get into iTunes or other sources, can go thru CD Baby - need
barcodes -- that can be expensive so CDBaby has a service for
providing a barcode per CD/Title at $20
upfront costs - $55 each CD to do both iTunes [barcoding] and
production. You'll want to price accordingly.
