I would imagine what is most impressive are two main features:
1 - IPS display panel
2 - 300+ ppi
My guess is that it has a 12.2" 2560x1440px IPS panel if you wanted to rival that you would have a very hard time, but a 4K (2160p) monitor with an IPS display would still be very impressive. IPS panels have a 178° wide viewing angle both horizontally and vertically, and they also generally have a wider color gamut (they can display more colors than other panels).
The drawback to IPS displays is that they are slower than TN panels, but they are still capable of 60Hz refresh. You just won't get 144Hz out of one (not that you could afford the graphics cards you'd need to be able to render over 60fps at 4K resolutions).

Subject: [Cialug] Displays
I'll admit it, I'm a lot out of the hardware game. The last couple of
days I've been working with a new Surface Pro 3 with a 12.2 display.
I have to admit, this is a really nice piece of hardware. I'm blown
away by the quality of the display.
My question is: What factors make this display look so good? Is it
the high pixels per inch? Is it the contrast ratio and brightness or
is it something else? If I was to going to get a dock for this
Surface I would definitely want to spend some extra $$$ and get a
large display that would rival what the Surface already has.
What kind of specifications would you look for in a large flat panel?
:) Dave
