[Cialug] good linux distro for web dev?

I use ubuntu with Xfce, you can add bits and pieces as needed. Light
weight, clean interface in my opinion.
Another option I have done install "server" version ubuntu, IE no GUI,
then installed Cinnamon desktop, very much like an XP\7 desktop but still
relatively light weight.

Seems like any distro would be fine for web development. For slimming down
the GUI, I think xfce is very usable. Find a distro that fully supports
xfce. If you liked Ubuntu then you could go with Xubuntu or Mint Xfce. I
really like Mint.
You could install something without a desktop manager (Debian would be a
good choice here, I'm sure) and then install the window manager of your
choice. Here's some info on window managers:

The advantage there is you that you put a little work into it, but then
you
get a solid machine that does what you want and will serve you well for a
while. I'm thinking of switching back to Gentoo, but that's a learning
curve if you haven't used it before and I don't know how it's doing these
days.
