Do you have a full backup of your system?
Have you tested that the backup actually works?

Sounds like you're just starting out and aren't sure of things. I'd 
suggest slowing down, make a full backup of your Windows installation. 
Do some testing to make sure the backup works. Then, don't worry so 
much. If you hose your computer, you can restore it from the backup. 
The process will be a lot less stressful if you know you can't lose 
anything.
