You want "try ... with no changes to computer" If you decide to
install there will be an icon on the Ubuntu desktop to allow you to do
so.

The installer, if you choose to run it, will non-destructively resize
your windows partition. But to be safe, back up any important data
before you do this. It won't do anything without asking you, "Are you
sure you want to..." so you can even try out the installer and stop
before hitting the point where important stuff happens.
