[Cialug] WIPE vs SHRED?

For a long time I have used the utility SHRED when I wanted to (as best as
possible) make sure all data was removed from a drive, but not physically
destroy the drive. I know that by default SHRED rewites random info to
whatever output you designate 25 times. It always seemed to do a pretty
good job of eliminating the data.

I am currently looking for a new bootable business card distro as lnx-bbc
hasn't been updated in almost 4 years, and I came across INSERT:
http://www.inside-security.de/insert_en.html

They seem to have many interesting utilities (more by appearance than damn
small linux or feather linux), and can still fit on a BBC. It can also be
installed to a flash drive.

However, according to their application list they do not include SHRED
(though it does mention at the top that is is an incomplete list). They do
however include a utility called WIPE:
http://wipe.sourceforge.net/

The SF page really doesn't give any good info. So I'm wondering if anyone
out there has used it, and/or can speak to how it compares to SHRED? Or if
anybody has suggestions for a BBC that includes SHRED.

Thanks,
Brandon
