<div>For a long time I have used the utility SHRED when I wanted to (as best as possible) make sure all data was removed from a drive, but not physically destroy the drive. I know that by default SHRED rewites random info to whatever output you designate 25 times. It always seemed to do a pretty good job of eliminating the data.

<div>I am currently looking for a new bootable business card distro as lnx-bbc hasn't been updated in almost 4 years, and I came across INSERT:</div>

<div> </div>
<div>They seem to have many interesting utilities (more by appearance than damn small linux or feather linux), and can still fit on a BBC. It can also be installed to a flash drive.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>However, according to their application list they do not include SHRED (though it does mention at the top that is is an incomplete list). They do however include a utility called WIPE:</div>
<div><a href="http://wipe.sourceforge.net/">http://wipe.sourceforge.net/</a></div>

<div>The SF page really doesn't give any good info. So I'm wondering if anyone out there has used it, and/or can speak to how it compares to SHRED? Or if anybody has suggestions for a BBC that includes SHRED.</div>

<div>Thanks,</div>
