audio shows syndicated via RSS/xml feeds
called podcasting because the iPod was very involved in the early days
of this version of things and the name stuck.
Basically nothing new as many people have been recording mp3 content for
download for years. Just the syndication methods and cheap
bandwith/players have made it much easier.
Personally I am subscribed to a number of feeds at my office and listen
to them instead of radio.
