Sure. We could even do stuff like, ring your home phone and if nobody
answers in 20 seconds call your cell phone too. Or ring both extensions at
once. Asterisk will also e-mail your phone mail to you.

Probably just about anything you can do with Vonage plus maybe a few more
things.

I have not signed up with Vonage yet. It's hard to resist an opportunity to
slash my phone bill in half.

Anyone figure out how much this service would cost on a per person basis.
Would the service have all of the options as Vonage, like 3-way calling and
voice mail?

I've revised my requirements list for an Asterisk Telephony cooperative:

So how would an asterisk Coop work? We would need: participants a
machine,
 a place to host it
Internet bandwidth with necessary room and/or QoS
a small race of elf-like genius computer operators to manage it.

Number one requirement is now participants. Would enough people even be
interested in giving up Vonage for something like this? Thinking out loud -
we would either need the critical mass of people and money or some
uber-geeks that want to do it just for the sake of doing it, or some
combination thereof.
