 From reading posts on Apple Discussions it may well be bad drive or 
else it's seated inside as a Master not something else [not sure what 
that means]= the Get Info says it is locked, not writable for some 
reason....and I think that's the drive not the disk I inserted [it's 
the Optiarc one- the search that was best was based on the name of 
the hardware] - will let you know what more I find out but sounds 
like bad drive....
