[DM-MUG] REinstall of OS = What to do with PreviousSystem

I did an OS reinstall and software update etc. but now have a number 
of preference panes [e.g. Windowshade, SErvices etc.] that are in the 
PreviousSystem not the 'new' system == my assumption is that I cannot 
just click and drag back to the PrefPanes area of Library but just 
thought I'd ask = I am assuming I need to redownload and restall???
