A friend of mine went to Oxford to make a presentation on literature. He's got a Compaq laptop with WinXP home edition. 

In the middle of his presentation, Windows started to do an automatic update. He couldn't get back to Powerpoint to resume the presentation.

This isn't a new experience. It's part of the teeth grinding that is WinXP when it comes to reliable productivity. Here's an article with more examples:
