I'm not seeing any current XPS 15 with Linux options - I believe the Developer Editions are only the XPS 13 now. Also, the current XPS 15 does not have an Nvidia GPU option from what I'm seeing. If you had a link to a specific machine you're considering, that might be more useful?
I have an XPS 13 Developer Edition from 2023 (same model as the XPS 13 Plus specs-wise, but comes with Ubuntu preinstalled) - but I also run Ubuntu anyway. Mine is an Intel integrated graphics, and the issues I've had have been more drivers for audio and webcam, than anything else. (They worked fine with Dell's tweaked image, but I had to do a lot of manual work when I clean-installed Ubuntu from Canonical directly.)
In general, if you're running Ubuntu, and you use the GUI to pick a proprietary Nvidia driver, everything generally works fine. The Nouveau drivers are still trash from my experience. Other distros have very different experiences, depending on the distro and how well they integrate it, etc.

Subject: [Cialug] New laptop
Looing for a new laptop with decent balance between power & battery, ..
looks like an XPS15 even has linux installed options, but both Intel &
nVidia graphics.
Can anyone confirm that the nVidia drivers are acceptable with the newer
chips, .. and or a configuration that is known to work?
TIA
