[Cialug] Android alternatives

Hey all,

Anyone using an open source Android alternative on a phone?  I have an
old freebie stuck on Android 5 with no further updates available, seems
like a perfect opportunity to try something out on it but I don't have
the first clue about options etc.  What's your experience?

Just as an aside, I think the ARM ecosystem is exciting here.  Who
knows, maybe in 10 years we could be at the beginning of another "PC
revolution" where people are mixing and matching their own parts to
build their own phones, installing their own operating systems.  It
would open up a lot of new doors.

So what projects are stable?  What's good?  What do you like and why?
