When I had weird hardware problems with my Pi, it turned out the my power
supply wasn't giving it enough amps. I switched power supplies, and
everything worked great again. As far as I can tell, there's no such thing
as too high for your amp rating.
I also find that sometimes USB charging wall-warts tend to lose their umph
(amp output) over time. Not sure if this is real or perceived.
