Been there, dealt with that! Created a nagios check to alert if a SAN
volume was NOT writable so the issue can be avoided entirely [has alerted
twice in the past 18 months - saved me a LOT of headache!!].

Next time I will chime in with the suggestion, just in case it is
applicable.
