[Cialug] Share encrypted files

As I think about it more, the more convenient option actually has one extra benefit: Privacy. Using GnuPG or S/MIME requires some of the information about the message to be unencrypted (at the very least the sender and receiver, but I think the subject too). So if you use gmail and engimail to communicate with your son and I snoop on your activities I’ll know that you guys sent messages to each other and that they're encrypted.

Some e-mail clients support this better than gnupg/gpg. You can get a free s/mime certificate using startssl.com. (you should use Firefox to access that site)

Assuming your devices are encrypted this would give you end to end encryption and privacy using standard email clients, including mobile devices and tablets. You could even set up a web mail interface. You can use a tool like z-push or SOGo and you’d get exchange-like functionality, including push notifications on your mobile devices.
