Howdy,
The last time I ran into an issue like this it was because I was trying to install [Linux Distro] to a GPT-formatted disk from MBR-formatted installation media. But this was on Sandy Bridge generation hardware, and I'm not sure if this problem still exists for the more recent uefi BIOSes.

Subject: [Cialug] OpenSuSE 42.2 Installation
Just tring a 42.2 installation, encountering a weird problem:
With four drives, the disk partitioner forces the USB installation drive
to be sdd, and then it considers /dev/sdd2 (the usb installation drive) as
a mounted root partition, preventing the selection of a root partition for
the partition layout.
Using a standard RAID6 layout, .. sda1 512MB /boot, 512MB /boot/efi, 1GB
Swap, 50GB root, rest userland.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem? This is so wonky that I'm at a
loss what to even search for.
Thanks!
Lee
