[Cialug] PHP/Linux -> ODBC?

Trying to rebuild an ancient PHP server installation that uses an ODBC
connection to a Windoze box, .. the current solution is dbctp (a la 1987),
which hangs on a regular basis.

Thinking about switching to unixODBC (package install, great), .. but the
DB is actually VisualFoxPro and the ODBC driver will not install on the
dev srv 2008 box.

Has anyone dealt with an architecture like this?
