I have had the best luck recently with BitDefender. It is inexpensive and
seems to offer very good protection.
Microsoft System Essentials is also decent for AV only, and it is free.
I steer away from AVG and Avast as they seem to get really annoying about
pushing upgrades and such on you.
Realise though, this is just subjective opinion. Others may have other
ideas.
