[Cialug] Migrating from iPhoto to ?

I have a collection of digital photos from the past couple decades, all 
organized and tagged in Apple's iPhoto. That is the one non-Linux 
application that i rely on, but i'd like to break that dependency on 
OS X. Has anyone else migrated from iPhoto to a Linux photo application? 
Any advice on which applications i should look at and how easy it is to 
migrate a photo library?
