The core requirements are Perl and NIDS; I'm a Python guy and have no
interest Perl. They seem fairly lax after that.

The primary benefits are:  working remote.

Upsides: good money - Downside: contract is at WF.

Unix/Linux Engineering (No systems admins) Need true engineers
Must haves:
• Linux/Unix Engineering (He would ideally like this person to have been a
strong Systems Admin and has now taken that next step of being more of an
Engineer
• PERL and Bash scripting – Strong Perl Scriping (used as their programming
Language – Bash – Used as there Comand Line interpreter), Cross site
scripting
• Info Security – They will basically need to understand how to detect
vulnerabilities within the servers, understand Exploit methods, understand
the access management to these servers and how to detect and eliminate
these threats or vulnerabilities.

The main goal overall is to Build out connected technology, just great

Formal Job Description:
Protect information assets through the management, administration and
monitoring of UNIX systems in support of security-focused initiatives. This
position involves day-to-day communications with peer support groups
required to maintain the UNIX server security environment. Provides
technical consultation associated with operating systems and security
tools. Defines systems software and/or hardware requirements and determines
system specifications and/or customizations. Designs and documents tasks
required for installations, configurations, upgrades and testing. Writes
documentation for departmental procedures, product guides and release
notes.

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge in planning and
implementing changes with information security products and procedures and
possess in-depth knowledge of the UNIX/Linux Operating System. The person
must be detailed oriented and have excellent customer service/follow-up
skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills and a strong work
ethic are required. Must be able to work effectively, both independently
and in a team environment. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced
environment, while efficiently prioritizing multiple tasks and
responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Expert knowledge and in-depth experience in UNIX/Linux operating systems
(Red Hat, Solaris, HPUX)
• Experienced with writing in Perl or shell on Unix/Linux
• Highly creative problem solver with strong analytical ability, debugging
and troubleshooting skills for the most complex problems
• Experience building innovative, high quality software solutions that are
secure, scalable, and reliable
• Database support and engineering experience with MySQL, Oracle, NOSQL
databases
• Ability to handle multiple issues at a time; Strong sense of time

• System and application performance analysis
• Experience using version control systems in a collaborative environment
• Clear understanding of systems architecture and service deployment
• Experience with change control processes and procedures

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in multiple platforms of UNIX and Linux

Authentication Services (VAS)
• Experience with engineering authentication tools and single sign-on
capabilities
• Experience with high-level structured programming: Ruby, Perl, Python or
other languages or shells
• Experience developing applications using software such as Ruby on Rails,
MySQL, PHP, Python/Django, AJAX, Java, Javascript, Apache, or other web
technologies
• Strong understanding of LDAP and directory technologies (e.g. NIS, others)
• Strong understanding of protocols including IP, UDP, TCP and HTTP
• Industry standard Certifications in Information Security such as CISSP,

• Full software development lifecycle experience (SDLC) including
