This behavior is part of the requirement for the HELO found in the RFCs.
I think this topic has come up on the list before, so it's not too
uncommon to find it causing problems.

In fact, if you look in the archives for where my foot is in my mouth
having claimed that there wasn't such a requirement in the RFC, that's
where you'll find the particular citations.

My suggestion is to urge them to fix their side, because, well, that's
where the problem is.
