If that's truly an issue, then:
*) Add ram and disable swap completely.  Even without adding more ram
   this can/should be done to test if swap's causing slowness anyway.

If adding ram is an issue and crypto swap is a performance issue - on
/dev/mapper no less - so it's likely software raid underneath software
crypto for two strikes against swapping - then:

*) Force the swap partition priority to low.
