I'll second pfSense. I have a box I built using Compact Flash and an Alix board from Netgate (Low power) and I could not be happier.

I assume you are talking about internet access. Personally, I have a Motorola SurfBoard<http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-SurfBoard-SB6141-DOCSIS-Cable/dp/B007IMPMW4/ref=sr_1_1>that
pushes all traffic into a dedicated (older) pc running pfSense <http://www.pfsense.org/>.
This makes for a VERY inexpensive and easily managed solution.
