No one has said anything about the 2001 whistle blowers - check out this
article, then search for more articles about the three, and their lawyer,
who is sometimes counted as a fourth in the party.

These three were involved in a monitoring program that would have only
stored relevant data, at a cost of $3 million, and could have been
implemented by Jan 2001. Sounds like the biggest problems it had included
that it would have been completely internal to the NSA (no contractors) and
would have respected citizens' privacy concerns (supervisor said no one
cared about that). If implemented, they believe it could have caught the
9/11 attackers.
