Dell's tech support is scattered all over the globe, but primarily located
in: India, Phillipines, and the USA. The problem is that you never know
which country you're going to get or whether you're going to get
a competent technical support person on the other end or someone that's
just reading a script and assumes that you're just going to do whatever
they want because they've been trained to accept that MOST people who call
in have no idea what they're really doing. The good news is that in recent
years, they started opening up call centers here in the states and training
people at Level 2 and higher. Most Level 1 tech support is located
off-shore.
Likely what you'll have to do is allow the disc to install all of the oem
crap, then go back and resize the NTFS partition to give you more space to
install Ubuntu. Of course, you could also just single boot.
