[Cialug] SOT: SAS drive interfaces 3G v 6G

It depends on the backplane, but I would think it would work. I don't
specifically have any 3G chassis that I could test with though. I do have a
SAS 6G SSD drive attached to a SAS 3G controller and it's working without
any issue, if that's any help.

Subject: [Cialug] SOT: SAS drive interfaces 3G v 6G

Does anyone know if a SAS 6G drive will work in a slot that formerly held a
SAS 3G drive?

It seems it is now easier to find the 6G drives and they cost less per GB
than 3G

I'm discovering through reading that the drive and slot should find 3G as
the lowest common denominator and work from that but I'm interested in
anyone's empirical experiences with this.

Thanks.

-Nate
