[Cialug] annual Ubunutu bust.

I reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 using wabi. It seems to work for now. I'm trying to be careful as to what I install and how install it as the new release is not as friendly to 12 fingered and 1/2 brained people. I'll just work it very slowly. But I will still need more help I'm sure. BTW the gentleman who sold me my laptop told to reinstall an release because he said my machine is so old. I told him I have an AMD-64 processor and that the release automatically installed it in 64 bit mode. He told me that was a dangerous thing to do. Well it's working although my dvd will not read my iso installation and that is why i took the narrow road of installing with wabi. I still can't boot on my old (original Ubuntu disk) but that is another story. When I hit the grub option for the linux install it spins on 40.166.2901. init
plymouth -stop prestart process(1570) terminated with status 1.
At that point I reboot and go tthe wubi boot.
Thanks for the help but I have a pity party with every new install.
Ralph

I assure you will be paid for your time. If you could get me back to an old release that would be great as my printer stop working once I got into release 11 which is the least of my problems.

So you're using Wubi? Do you have any data you want to save? If not,
you can just uninstall wubi from the Windows control panel and then
re-install. It's just a file on your windows partition and wubi tricks
Ubuntu into thinking it's a hard-drive. You don't have to create or
modify any partitions (Windows or otherwise) when using Wubi.
