Thank you for your response. I found a model, Epson stylus Nx230 which works well with Linux according to the database you referred to and other sites.  I will see you tomorrow at the LUG meeting.

I am going to get a new printer thanks to son on Father's day.  What I need is a recommendation for  cheap, working printer (btw has to be from Best Buy) that works well with linux and windows.   I found out to my dismay that Lexmark has dropped the boat.   I have been checking out epson nx230 and brother mfc-j835dw.  The search has been daunting I don't want repeat my problems with Lexmark (btw  it works quite well with my wireless pc and my vista system but not Linux).

I will greatly happy for your help.
