Even the municipalities have competition from the big boys.  After living in
Spencer for a few years, a trend was firmly established - if SMU customers
had a speed issue, they'd send someone out to work on the lines - the same
lines that Mediacom worked on.  This would, in turn, cause issues for the
Mediacom customers, thus leading the Mediacom techs to arrive to work on the
lines, and so it keeps going back and forth, back and forth, until
everyone's using one provider and not the other.  Of course, that'll never
happen, but ultimately the connection stayed up and going strong rather
well.
