[Cialug] Daily reading?

Yes, RSS and Atom are pretty awesome. I'm subscribed to about 150 feeds
in Google Reader. Not only is it good for keeping up with websites and
blogs but there are many other things that have RSS feeds. Some of the
more uncommon things you can subscribe to are:

- feed of new DVDs/books at the local public library
- new Netflix instant watch movies
- many job boards provide RSS feeds for job searches
- new bug tracker tickets, code check-ins
- Instapaper unread articles feed
- email to RSS using http://atomify.appspot.com/ allows you to subscribe
to email newsletters and turn it into an Atom/RSS feed

I find some feeds have too many posts to keep up so I use PostRank to
filter the RSS to only include what the best posts. For example, you can
filter Slashdot at
http://www.postrank.com/feed/0a30ee5d677d2e622cac4572bc0a415a and then
choose your ranking threshold and then export it to an RSS feed which
you can subscribe to.
