[Cialug] Hardware Problem

Another thing to check is the health of the hard drive itself, since it
seems that has not been mentioned as a possibility yet.  A scan with this
tool may give you more clues:

Download and burn the DFT cd image listed on the website.  After that, you
should be able to boot from the cd to perform the diagnostic test on your
hard drive, which if successful, should help determine if the drive is bad
or not.
