Well I updated what it indicated needed to be updated and I have also installed a Plugin for shockwave flash (Adobe). Since doing so I have not yet experienced this issue again but sometimes it takes a while.
I looked at the links you attached and the first seemed to be the most closely related.
It seems that I have to restart after installing a plugin. Is that standard for Linux systems? Until I restarted I kept getting the same message at the top of the browser that a plugin was needed even though I exited the browser and restarted it.

Congrats on getting wireless to work! Unfortunately, your mouse issue
appears to be a bit more. . . esoteric.
I did a quick search and found the following bug reports:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/673201
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/658487
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/658820
I skimmed those reports and didn't really find any solutions or
work-arounds (besides NOT using a USB mouse).
Question: are you up to date on patches? If not, try patching ASAP. If
so, keep up on patches as the fix will come through
hopefully/eventually!
