[Cialug] Hello and can I get some recommendations

To add on to the JavaScript recommendation, I would recommend using one of
the JavaScript frameworks out there.  I've used jQuery, and I highly
recommend it.  If you visit Dell or Mozilla.org, they use jQuery under the
covers.  The nice thing about the JS frameworks is they hide a lot of the
browser differences for you.  So you'll have to worry less about the IE-isms
that exist, especially in older IE versions (like IE6).  The one downside to
using a framework is it really does hide a lot of the underlying JavaScript.
 It almost becomes a language itself.
