[Cialug] "Dymamic" Xorg c**p

Is anyone else getting fed up with the new Xorg 'dynamic configuration'
process? I ran into another machine yesterday at a client site where I
couldn't even read the screen [it had defaulted to 800x600 due to a power
reboot when the monitor was off]!

Has anyone figured out a way to prevent this? Forcing the resolution
xorg.conf can be problematic, as the syntax is really too complex to
generate in a few minutes, *especially* with different video cards and
monitors.
