In that case make sure the clients are using the DNS server provided by the windows server and that the DNS server is running in the Active Directory Domain. Or if it is an NT/Lan Manager domain, make sure that WINS is running on the server and that the clients are being given the correct WINS server IP address.

It sounds like it's trying to contact the Windows domain server, and can't.

I've seen name resolution and/or routing issues cause that exact problem.
