[Cialug] rsync Weirdness

OK, .. here's a good one for you guys:

We run rsnapshot jobs on all our servers, .. and they have been runng for
many years.

Trying to add a new server to the mix, and the rsync jobs are throwing
some STRANGE errors, .. trying to do the manually creates the same
problem, AS DOES A MANUAL rsync I'm trying to do on two complete different
machines.

Has anyone ever seen messages like:

file has vanished: "/proc/23522/task/23522/cwd"
file has vanished: "/proc/23522/task/23522/root"
file has vanished: "/proc/23522/task/23522/exe"
file has vanished: "/proc/22401/cwd"
file has vanished: "/proc/22401/root"
file has vanished: "/proc/22401/exe"
file has vanished: "/proc/22401/task/22401/cwd"
file has vanished: "/proc/22401/task/22401/root"

Where /proc is not even in the directories being backed up? What might
cause the exact same problem on two totally separate machine environments?
(One pair is NTFS on Ubunu 10.4 -> OpenBSD 4.5, and the other is Debian ->
CentOS 5.4.)
