[Cialug] new wireless router: default firmware or custom?

I run DD-WRT on a basic Linksys WRT54g.  It's great, but I have had issues
while loading torrents (specifically the latest ubuntu release) that too
many open connections at once can overwhelm it on some routers.  Many of the
basic WRT45g's don't have a lot of memory.
