As stated before, unless you've got a clean room (sub-micron filtering,
clean suits, etc) you'll probably just ruin whatever you're working on.

That being said, open it up and poke at it.  If it's already trashed,
there's no harm in checking it out.

Eh the read write head... But you don't think Itd work swapping the  
disks? Or would swapping the read write head do it?
