I do a couple of similar things. One, like the suggestion here, I try
to keep my resume up-to-date, at least every few months. The primary
goals here are to address responsibility skew (e.g. I used to do more
of N, now I do more of M, etc), and to also document any major projects
I have been involved in.

The second thing I do is every Friday write up a list of what I
worked on that week. This isn't required by my work (yet), but
it is very useful for me to be able to look back at things I've
done over time. One, when it comes to work plan updates/reviews/
etc I have a list of what I've been working on. Two, it's nice to
be able to look back and see that you've actually accomplished
things. And, with my memory, I see either projects I've done or
problems I've (helped) solve that I had forgotten about.

And, whenever I update my resume, I upload it to my web site.
I should also remember to update it on LinkedIn and other sites.
Even when I'm not looking for a job it's at least out there.
