There is, and I cannot recall the name, but they have been advertised in cyberguys before.

I will be interested if anyone replies with an open source option.

Subject: [Cialug] WiFi Mesh

We were at a campground over the weekend, and somebody had kludged
together some WAP11s into a WiFi network that had failed, so I offerred to
help them replace it; unfortunately, it looks like Meraki has 'gone
corporate', and no longer offers the lower cost units that will accept an
external antenna [the old 'brick' unit that accepted an external antenna
would have been perfect, but it appears to have been discoutinued].

Is anyone aware of a reasonable cost mesh solution? The first unit will
link to an existing WiFi router, and subsequent units will connect via
mesh from there; the first two can be indoor [there are currently two
high gaim antennas available], but future expansion will probably be 'in
the trees' & solar.

Low cost is a factor, but not as important as reliability; the current
Linksys system worked for a year or more, but none of the APs currently
respond to a reset; don't know if they were reloaded with custom firmware
or just failed.
