OH oh, No double pole, double throw disconnect? Don't let the power company hear about it or they will disconnect you until it is installed. They're paranoid about their linemen getting shocked from a 'dead' power line. And if I were a lineman I would be too.

When I lived in town the power was seldom out. Its common here to have
a couple of 15 minute outages a month, especially during planting
season, harvest season and inclement weather. This spring there have
been two 45 minutes outages aleady. Last year a couple of outages that
lasted 4-6 hours. I didn't realize how spoiled I was when I lived in
town.
There were also times this winter where the road was impassable for 3
days one time and 4 days another time. I'm really not that terribly
rural, its just a bad spot for utility services. It never fails that
when I have something I *really* need to get done, the power goes out.
Everything here in my office is plugged into some large ups's. I have
an external jack that is wired directly to the main panel. The power
goes out, I flip the main breaker off, plug in the patch cable from the
generator and off I go, it takes only a couple of minutes.
My intent is to eventually run everything in my office from 100%
renewable sources -probably a combination a combination of wind and
photovoltiacs, but with a higher percentage of wind than normal.
I don't even want to talk about the "reliability/quality" of my dsl
circuit out here....
