Once again, I'm pretty happy, but I use primarily Macs these days and
subscribe to MobileMe (nee .Mac nee iTools) so I have the nice desktop
clients (iCal, Address Book), plus the web service plus the phone push
integration so it works for me. If running a Mac is a non-starter for
you, then I'm guessing an iPhone might not be ideal, though there must
be something you can sync to on the PC side, since they sell a lot to
windows folk. (probably Outlook since it has exchange support). If
you're Linux only, I'm not sure what you'd use these days on the
desktop side of this.
Also, I'm primarily urban in my usage patterns, so AT&T service isn't
too bad - if I had to go out to smaller towns and rural areas more the
coverage wouldn't be nearly good enough. I moved from US Cellular
several years ago because I just couldn't get a phone from them that
even had Bluetooth. There's only been a time or 2 that the move has
caused me to not have service where I wanted it (and it usually
cleared up soon enough).
The good news is there are some pretty cool phones out there covering
a wide variety of usage patterns. Good luck finding the right one for
you.
