Try the command iwlist
It will list all of the access points in your area even if the SSID is
hidden. iwlist will also list the mac address.
If you have physical access to the access point, find the MAC address.
iwlist will have some other useful information you can verify such as
type of encryption.
Using aircrack-ng you can capture the traffic to find out additional
information.
