I apologize, I was not clear. While you see some of that functionality
available, I would say it's not mine in the Make magazine mindset.
I want it more like a beige box pc, where I can pay for internet connectivity
regardless of what OS is on the box, what games or software I use, or
the quality of my video card. I want to be able to take the phone apart
and replace a specific part with something better/faster.
Not have the phone locked to a particular provider.
I would like the OS the phone is using to be open source, to promote
app compatibility and improve security. I want to be able to attach
a slim line device that will do blood sugar monitoring, or one that
will scan barcodes for me. This is why I say such devices are on
the horizon, but not here yet.

You *can* charge and sync at the same time but I don't have to do so,
If I leave the wifi on it will sync my podcasts whenever I'm in range,
and I can charge it in the car while I'm using it or if I'm at the computer.
It's a preference on how that works for *me*.
If I have to plug it in to charge/sync I'd just go back to my Zen.

The zune does that as well. I just don't use it.
