I had a dream once that the Navy base I was on was a giant data
storage mechanism. The buildings and roads and other infrastructure
was laid out in such a way that a tower-mounted beam of some sort
could point in a certain direction and read the physical stuff in that
direction and it would be data. I remember dreaming that the cars and
ships moving around would be treated using standard ways of correcting
for errors.
