[Cialug] Java Default Printer on ubuntu

I'm pulling my hair out over this... How do I set the default printer (or restrict printers) for Java applets that run in Firefox? I've used lpoptions -d to set the FF default and restricted only 2 printers to be available to the user in question. FF honors this fine, but any Java applets don't seem to care what printers are available, etc.. Any thoughts?
