[Cialug] nslookup works but ping cannot resolve

Alas, would that my problem were so simple.  But my /etc/nsswitch.conf
has, as far as I can tell, the correct stuff in it.  I can ping
google.com, just not a local machine name on my network.  And the
problem is only on this one machine, whereas my others have an
identical /etc/nsswitch.conf and work fine.
